Study Questions

Read Glass Swan and answer the study questions found at the back of the book.

Here are some sample study questions below:

Chapter 1

1. What events lead up to Lola’s feeling of anger?

2. What do you think was going through the mind of Lola’s sister as she stood at the top of the stairs?

3. Why do you think Lola’s sister was playing with ‘Silly Putty?’

4. List some of the ways Lola expressed her anger?

5. What do you do when you are angry?

6. Why do you think Lola said, “…they hit me all the time?”

7. Do you think she is telling the truth about her parents hitting her? Why? Why not?

Chapter 2

1. Why did Lola say, “I wanted to go home anyway?”

2. What happened to Lola’s family? Who was responsible for what happened? What were the consequences of his actions?

4. What are some of the ways we can reduce, or ideally eliminate, the number of people drinking and driving?

5. How can we prevent ourselves from saying or doing things that we might regret?

Chapter 3

1. What memories does Lola have of her family?

2. What memories do you have of your family?

3. What do you think of Lola’s attitude towards the Doctor? Why does she behave this way?

4. Why do you think the drunk driver left the scene of the accident? What do you think would have happened if he stayed there? How might his life be different?

5. Children who have become orphans are very often expected to live with a close relative. Do you think this is a good idea? Why? Why not?
